Indonesian nutmeg and ginger open it with a warm, zesty spice. Frankincense and olibanum bring a cool, smoky resin, like ash and embers, which suits the name. Bulgarian rose gives a soft floral heart that tempers the smoke. The base is dense and earthy: agarwood adds a dry oud, Haitian vetiver a smoky root, patchouli and cypriol an earthy darkness, and Spanish labdanum and Siam benzoin a warm, honeyed resin.
