Agarwood, or oud, is the core, dark and slightly animalic, and cypriol, also known as nagarmotha, doubles down on that smoky, earthy, leathery woodiness. Against this sits an unexpectedly playful sweetness: notes of candies and sweet accents soften the wood the way sugar softens strong coffee. Floral notes add a rounded, slightly powdery bloom in the middle, while labdanum brings a warm, resinous amber and musk gives the whole thing a soft, skin-close finish.
It is worn by anyone. The weight of the oud and resin suggests cold weather and evenings, and a wearer who likes rich, resinous compositions; someone new to oud may find the sweetness makes it an approachable first step.
