A straightforward rose soliflore, True Rose from the British house Woods of Windsor dates from 2002 and is intended for women. Floral is the only word people use for it; there is no spice, wood or sweetness competing with the flower.

The rose itself is given as Bulgarian rose, the classic, slightly jammy and honeyed variety, backed by a second rose note that keeps the theme clear from start to finish. Geranium adds a green, faintly minty sharpness that stops the rose from becoming cloying, and freesia lends a lighter, dewy, almost peppery freshness that sits on top. Because there is no listed base of wood or musk, the scent stays close to the flower throughout rather than drying down into something darker.

Longevity and projection have not yet been reported by wearers. On character, it suits daytime and spring, and anyone who wants a clean, traditional English rose without modern sweetness or heavy amber beneath.
