Trussardi Uomo is a big, old-school masculine from 1983: woody and floral in equal measure, with spice, honeyed sweetness and herbs layered on top. Béatrice Piquet composed it for the Italian house Trussardi, and it is marketed to men.
The opening is aromatic and bracing, with lavender, basil and juniper berries over a sparkle of aldehydes and bergamot. The heart is where it turns rich: rose and carnation are warmed by honey and cinnamon, giving a sweet, spiced, almost gingerbread-like glow, while cedar and orris keep it dry and powdery underneath. The base of oakmoss, patchouli, leather and labdanum is dark, mossy and resinous, with tonka bean smoothing the finish.
Performance is its calling card. Wearers describe longevity as long lasting or outright eternal, and projection as strong or enormous, so a little goes a long way. Winter and autumn dominate the season votes, and day and night are almost level. It suits cold weather, overcoats and anyone who wants a powerful, unmistakably retro scent.
