Tobacco Vanille is sweet pipe tobacco and vanilla, an eau de parfum from Tom Ford's Private Blend line composed by Olivier Gillotin in 2007. Almost everyone calls it sweet, most find it warmly spicy, and about half describe it as woody and powdery.
The opening is tobacco leaf with a pinch of clove, which gives it a dry, slightly medicinal warmth at first. Vanilla and tonka bean then move in and soften everything into something rounder and more dessert-like. The base keeps the tobacco going and adds cocoa and benzoin, a resin with a balsamic, honeyed sweetness, so the finish is warm, dense and lightly smoky rather than sugary.
It is worn by anyone, and people consistently report it as long lasting, with a third saying it practically never fades. Projection is most often described as strong. Winter is the near-unanimous season, autumn close behind, and most votes go to night wear, though a third also wear it during the day.
