Arena, by the Spanish brand Somens and perfumer Chris Maurice, was released in 2020. Rose and other florals take the lead, with a sweet, gourmand side and plenty of wood beneath. It is a shared scent.

The opening brings red fruits for a juicy, berry-like sweetness, with artemisia and sage adding an aromatic, herbal freshness and cardamom a cool spice. The heart is rosy: China rose gives a rich, velvety floral note, while iris adds a powdery, refined texture. The base turns darker and woodier, with agarwood, or oud, lending a smoky, slightly medicinal depth, cypriol a smoky earthiness and woody notes structure. Vanilla, amber and musk soften the finish into something warm and smooth.

The rose-and-oud pairing gives it a Middle Eastern feel tempered by fruit and vanilla. It suits evenings, cooler weather and special occasions, and appeals to anyone who likes rose scents with a deep, woody backbone.
