Salvador Dali Pour Homme, composed by Thierry Wasser in 1987, is a big, old-school aromatic fougère with serious staying power. Woodiness is what everyone agrees on; most also describe it as floral and citrusy, about half as green and aromatic, and a quarter as spicy.

The opening is a crowd of fresh and herbal notes: lemon, bergamot and tangerine for brightness, lavender for a clean, soapy aromatic lift, and basil, clary sage, tarragon and anise for a green, slightly liquorice-like herbal edge. The heart is floral in the classic masculine way, with geranium and jasmine over lily of the valley and a powdery touch of heliotrope. The base is dense: oakmoss and patchouli for a dark, mossy earthiness, cedar, sandalwood and vetiver for dry wood, and vanilla and amber for warmth.

Most wearers report that it lasts very long, many calling it eternal, with a strong to enormous trail. It is voted mainly for autumn and winter and firmly for evening. It suits someone who likes powerful, vintage-style masculines.
