TO BE The Queen is a sweet, fruity scent from Police, released in 2013 for women. Gourmand is the accord everyone names; most also find it woody, floral and citrusy, and a minority notice green or musky notes.

The opening is a bright mix of fruit: mandarin and orange for citrus, pineapple and peach for juicy tropical sweetness, and red berries for a tart edge. Petitgrain adds a bitter green note from the orange tree that keeps the fruit from becoming syrupy. Jasmine and violet form the floral heart, the jasmine warm and the violet soft and slightly powdery. The base is sweet and smooth, with vanilla leading, cedar and patchouli adding a dry, earthy wood, and musk softening the finish.

It is a playful, youthful fragrance that suits daytime and the warmer months, though the vanilla base gives it enough warmth for an evening out. Anyone who likes fruity, sweet scents with a woody backbone should find it an easy wear.
