Pino Silvestre Original, released in 1955 and composed by Lino Vidal, is a classic pine fragrance marketed for men. Green, woody, floral, aromatic and citrus notes are all equally strong, with spice at half that strength.
The opening is fresh and herbal: lavender, basil and juniper berries give a clean, aromatic and slightly piney note, and bergamot and lemon a bright citrus zest. The heart is the forest itself, with pine tree needles bringing a resinous, green freshness, clary sage and geranium an aromatic floral edge, and carnation and caraway a light spice. The base is calm and mossy, with oakmoss for an earthy green depth, cedar for a dry woodiness, and amber, tonka bean and musk for warmth.
Most wearers report moderate longevity and a moderate sillage. It is voted for autumn and winter and is mostly worn by day. It suits everyday wear and outdoor days, and anyone who loves the smell of a pine forest in a traditional, barbershop style.
