Nina Ricci's Love in Paris, from 2004 and composed by Aurélien Guichard, is a sweet, fruity floral that people describe as gourmand and floral in equal measure, with a minority adding spice, musk, leather and citrus.
The opening is busy and soft: pear, peach and banana give a creamy, ripe fruitiness, rose keeps it floral, and star anise adds a liquorice-like twist that sets it apart from other fruity florals of its type. The heart continues the aniseed thread, with violet and jasmine adding a powdery, slightly sweet floral layer over it. The base is simple, woodsy notes and musk, a soft, clean floor rather than a statement.
Longevity is moderate for the largest group and long lasting for about a third, and most wearers find the sillage moderate. Spring and summer take the most votes, and it is mostly worn by day, so it is a fragrance for mild, bright weather and for anyone who enjoys fruit with a hint of aniseed.
