Galaor from Lubin, composed in 2019 by Thomas Fontaine and Delphine Thierry, is a rose set over woods and balsams. Everyone who describes it calls it woody, floral and citrus together, and about half add spicy, resinous and amber.
Bergamot and lemon open it with a bright, slightly bitter citrus, and cinnamon brings a warm, sweet spice straight after. The heart is Bulgarian rose, full, honeyed and slightly spicy itself. The base is dry and resinous: vetiver gives a grassy, smoky woodiness, patchouli an earthy depth, myrrh a dry, bitter, slightly medicinal resin, and Peru balsam a sweeter, vanilla-and-cinnamon balsam that ties the spice at the top to the woods at the bottom.
It is worn by anyone. The spiced rose-and-resin character suits autumn and winter and evening wear, and a person who likes rose but wants it dry and woody rather than fruity or sweet, with a touch of incense-like myrrh to give it gravity.
