Lagerfeld Classic, composed by Ron Winnegrad for Karl Lagerfeld in 1978, is a rich woody floral in the old-school masculine style. Woods and flowers share the lead, while a strong share of people also notice sweetness, greenery and citrus, and a minority mention freshness.
The opening is aromatic and bright: bergamot and lemon give citrus zest, tarragon and clary sage a herbal, slightly anise-like greenness, and aldehydes a clean, soapy sparkle. The heart is full and warm, with sandalwood, cedar and tobacco adding a smooth, dry woodiness and rose, jasmine and orris root a soft, powdery floral layer. The base brings vanilla, oakmoss, tonka bean and amber, a sweet, mossy and comforting finish.
Over half of wearers find it long lasting, and the trail is strong or moderate. It is voted mainly for autumn and winter and worn by day and night in roughly equal measure. That suits formal occasions, cooler days and men who appreciate a classic, refined fragrance from the late 1970s.
