Costume National Homme is a spicy, woody citrus for men, composed by Dominique Ropion for CoSTUME NATIONAL and released in 2009. Everyone who has described it finds it spicy, woody and citrusy in equal measure, and about half also pick up a resinous warmth.

Grapefruit and bergamot open sharp and bitter, with cardamom adding a cool, aromatic spice that bridges the citrus and what follows. The heart turns hot: cinnamon gives a dry, sweet heat, cloves a medicinal, slightly numbing bite, and thyme a herbal, savoury edge that keeps the spices from feeling like a bakery. The base is warm and dense: sandalwood brings a smooth, milky wood, patchouli an earthy depth, and labdanum a sweet, ambery resin that gives the drydown its weight.

Most wearers report that it lasts very long, many calling it practically eternal, and the projection is widely described as strong to enormous. It is voted for winter and autumn, marginally more for night than day: a bold spice for cold evenings, worn sparingly.
