By Kilian's Apple Brandy, created by Sidonie Lancesseur in 2013, is a sweet, boozy apple scent with an oaky, smoky depth. Gourmand sweetness leads, with wood strongly present and touches of resin and amber.
It opens with apple, rum, plum and sugar, giving a rich, caramelised-fruit impression, like baked apple soaked in spirit. The heart turns woody and smoky, with oak, smoke and a wood barrel note recalling the inside of a cask. The base is warm and resinous: ambroxan adds a radiant, mineral amber, Texas cedar and Chinese cedar a dry, slightly smoky woodiness, labdanum a balsamic depth and vanilla a soft sweetness.
People are evenly split between moderate and long-lasting wear, and the trail is moderate to intimate. It is voted for autumn and winter and leans towards evenings. Worn by anyone, it suits cold nights, festive occasions and anyone who enjoys a drink-inspired, woody gourmand.
