Chinatown is a dense floral woody from Bond No 9, created by Aurélien Guichard in 2005 and worn by anyone. Floral is the word everyone uses and most also call it woody; a minority pick up spice, sweetness and citrus.
Bergamot opens it with a brief citrus brightness over a soft, fruity blossom. The heart is a lush white-flower core, tuberose and gardenia at their creamiest, with orange blossom adding lift. The base is long and layered: patchouli for earthiness, vanilla for sweetness, guaiac wood and sandalwood for a smoky, creamy warmth, and a surprising cardamom that gives the drydown a spiced edge.
About half of wearers find it long lasting and the rest mostly moderate; sillage is moderate for most and strong for a quarter. Autumn and winter lead the seasonal votes and it is split exactly between day and night. That suggests cool weather and anyone comfortable with a big, rich floral that leans woody and slightly sweet.
