Santal des Indes, created by Irina Burlakova for Amouroud in 2016, is a woody fragrance with flowers noticed by most people and smaller groups finding musk, amber and leather.

Absinthe and incense give a cool, herbal, slightly smoky opening, the absinthe bitter and liquorice-like. The heart is unusual: curry tree brings a green, savoury, aromatic note, Turkish rose a velvety bloom, narcissus a green, honeyed depth and Chinese cedar a dry, smoky wood. The base is built on sandalwood, creamy and milky, supported by vetiver for an earthy root, leather for a smooth texture and musk for a soft finish.

Santal des Indes is shared and can be worn by anyone. It suits autumn and spring, the office and evenings, and should appeal to people who love sandalwood and want it with an Indian-inspired, herbal and smoky twist rather than plain creaminess.
