Malachite, a 2017 fragrance from the Qatari house Al-Jazeera Perfumes, is a dense white floral. Everyone who describes it calls it floral, some find it woody, and a minority pick up spice, musk, resin and citrus. It is worn by anyone.
Bergamot and pink pepper give a short, bright, lightly spicy opening. The heart is the point: tuberose, gardenia, jasmine and orange blossom make a creamy, heady white bouquet, with rose adding a softer, sweeter petal note. The base is warm and smooth: sandalwood for cream, vanilla for sweetness, myrrh for a slightly bitter, balsamic depth, patchouli for earth and musk to tie it together.
This is a fragrance for evenings and special occasions, and for people who love big white florals and want them with a resinous, warm finish. In hot weather it will feel rich; in cooler air it will feel sumptuous.
