Star anise and blackcurrant open it, a cool liquorice spice next to a dark, tart fruit. The heart is warm and peppery: galanga brings a ginger-like, slightly camphorous heat and pepper a dry bite. The base is where the sweetness settles: bourbon vanilla gives a rich, boozy warmth, tolu balsam a sweet, cinnamon-tinged resin, and Atlas cedar a dry, slightly smoky wood that keeps the vanilla from turning soft.
About half of wearers call it long lasting and most of the rest moderate. Sillage splits almost evenly between strong and moderate. It is voted for autumn and winter and more for night than day, which suits a warm, spiced vanilla for cold evenings rather than a summer afternoon.
