A sweet, woody fragrance from the Italian house V Canto, Arsenico was composed by Paolo Terenzi and released in 2017. Everyone who describes it calls it gourmand; about half also find it woody, and a quarter pick out resin, amber, leather or citrus.
The note list is long and not divided into stages. Fruit sets the tone: pineapple, apple and red currant give a juicy, slightly tart sweetness. Jasmine adds a floral softness in the middle. The base is where the weight sits, with patchouli and oakmoss bringing earthy, mossy darkness, cedar a dry wood, and tonka bean and amber a warm, vanilla-like sweetness that lingers.
Arsenico is a shared fragrance and worn by anyone. The combination of ripe fruit over dark, resinous woods points towards cooler months and evenings, and towards someone who enjoys sweetness with a serious, smoky backbone rather than a light fruity scent. It is sold in a 100 ml bottle.
