Resins lead in Legacy of Petra, a British Penhaligon's fragrance from 2022 composed by Natalie Gracia-Cetto, with sweet, green, woody, herbal and citrus sides all roughly equal behind them. It is worn by anyone.

The opening is unusual: green tea and fennel give a cool, slightly aniseed, leafy freshness, with bergamot for brightness. The heart deepens into myrrh, a dry, bitter, incense-like resin, paired with licorice, which echoes the aniseed of the opening in a darker, sweeter form, and rosemary for a herbal lift. The base of benzoin, vanilla and woods is warm and gently sweet, with benzoin adding a balsamic, slightly medicinal richness that keeps it from being a plain vanilla finish.

Most wearers find it long lasting, and projection is moderate to strong. It is voted mainly for winter and autumn and for night-time, which suits it to cold evenings and anyone drawn to resinous, incense-tinged scents with an unexpected herbal edge.
