Oriental Soul, a 2019 fragrance by Majouri composed by Philippine Courtière, is built around amber, with gourmand, woody, floral, resinous and aromatic tones balanced evenly around it.
The opening pairs basil, which brings a green, slightly peppery herbal freshness, with frankincense, giving a dry, smoky and lightly citrusy resin. In the heart, rose adds a soft, velvety floral note, and vanilla begins to bring warmth and sweetness. The base is deep and meditative: kyara incense, a prized and refined form of agarwood used in incense, gives a smooth, sweet smoke, agarwood itself adds dark, resinous woodiness, and amber wraps everything in a warm, golden glow.
The structure suggests cooler months, evenings and quieter, more contemplative moments, as well as formal occasions. It is meant to be worn by anyone who enjoys incense and oud in a warm, softly sweet style, with an aromatic herbal touch that keeps the opening from feeling heavy.
