It opens with a single note of cognac, warm, rich and slightly fruity, like the fumes from a brandy glass. The heart continues the idea of a drink aged in wood: oak gives a dry, slightly smoky, cask-like woodiness, cinnamon a sweet, warming spice, and tonka bean a soft, hay-like, almond-tinged sweetness. The base is vanilla, praline and sandalwood, so the drydown is creamy and caramel-sweet with a smooth, milky wood underneath that keeps it from being purely dessert.
