The heart is where the name, which refers to smoke, is earned: incense gives a dry, church-like smokiness, labdanum a sticky, leathery resin, patchouli an earthy depth, and orange blossom a soft, honeyed floral that keeps the middle from becoming austere. The base is sweet and dark, with praline and tonka bean for caramel-like warmth, benzoin and amber for a balsamic glow, and tobacco for a dry, slightly bitter finish.
