Kyma, released by the Greek brand Korres in 2022, is a sea-breeze fragrance: fresh is the word everyone uses, most add citrus, and about half find it spicy and woody as well. It aims at the smell of salt water and warm rock rather than at flowers or sweetness.
The notes read as a single list, and they fall into three groups. Lime, mandarin orange and orange give a sharp, sunny citrus start. Watery and sea notes, with sea water itself, provide the marine heart, cool and slightly salty. Pepper and nutmeg lend a dry warmth that stops the freshness from feeling thin, and cedar and vetiver supply a clean, slightly smoky woody floor to finish on.
It is a shared fragrance, worn by anyone. The profile suits hot weather, daytime and informal settings, the kind of scent to put on for a walk by the water or a summer working day. People who like aquatic and citrus colognes with a bit more backbone than usual are its natural audience.
