Scandal by Jean Paul Gaultier is a honeyed floral gourmand, released in 2017 for women and composed by Fabrice Pellegrin, Christophe Raynaud and Daphné Bugey. Everyone describes it as gourmand and floral, two thirds add citrus, and a third notice a woody side.

The opening is blood orange and mandarin, juicy and a little bitter. The heart is where the honey arrives, thick and sweet, poured over gardenia, jasmine and orange blossom, with peach adding a soft fruitiness. The base turns darker and stickier: caramel and beeswax keep the sweetness going, patchouli gives it earth and a slight edge, and liquorice adds a dark, aniseed-like depth that stops it becoming cloying.

Wearers are split evenly between moderate and long lasting longevity, and the sillage is strong for nearly half, so it carries. Winter and autumn are the seasons people vote for, and it is firmly a night scent in the votes. It suits evenings out in cold weather and anyone who enjoys honey as the main theme rather than a side note.
