Eau de Iceberg Amber, released in 2012 by the Italian brand Iceberg, is a woody amber for men. Everyone who describes it calls it both woody and amber, and nothing else, which makes it one of the more single-minded fragrances around: warmth and wood, without citrus, flowers or spice to distract.

The notes are few and listed together. Woody notes supply the dry, slightly smoky frame that holds the scent up. Resins add a sticky, balsamic sweetness, the kind that smells faintly of tree sap and warm wood. Amber brings the glow: soft, warm and a little powdery, settling close to the skin as the composition dries down.

Wear reports are still scarce. By its make-up it suits cold weather and evenings, when a warm, uncomplicated amber comes into its own, and it fits someone who wants an easy, affordable masculine scent in this style rather than anything complex or sharp.
