Gucci's Envy, created by Maurice Roucel in 1997, is first and foremost a floral fragrance, with lighter touches of fruit, green notes, wood, musk and citrus. It is a bright, green-tinged floral rather than a sweet one.

The opening mixes pineapple and peach with bergamot, freesia and magnolia, giving a juicy but airy start. The heart is a full bouquet: lily of the valley and hyacinth bring a dewy, green freshness, iris and violet add a cool, powdery tone, and jasmine and rose fill it out. The base is clean and soft, with musk, sandalwood and cedar, and oakmoss lending a slightly bitter, forest-floor depth.

Longevity is reported as moderate to long lasting, and the trail as moderate, though a minority find it very strong. It is voted for spring and summer and mostly for daytime, which makes it a natural fit for work, daytime events and warm weather.
