Apple and bergamot give the opening a crisp, fruity brightness, quickly warmed by nutmeg. The heart is where the spice takes over: cinnamon brings a sweet, hot warmth, saffron a leathery, faintly medicinal richness and dry wood a parched, slightly smoky frame that stops it becoming a pudding. The base of vanilla, benzoin and musk is sweet and smooth, with benzoin adding a balsamic, resinous depth and musk a soft finish.
