Limes by the London house Floris dates from 1832 and is a floral citrus of the old school. Everyone who describes it calls it floral and about two-thirds citrusy; a third find it green or musky.
The notes are given as a list, and the name needs a small clarification: alongside Amalfi lemon and lemon, the lime here is the lime or linden blossom, the sweet, honeyed flower of the tree rather than the fruit. Neroli and petitgrain add the bitter-green, orange-blossom side of the citrus tree, and lily of the valley a dewy, fresh floral note. Musk gives a light, clean base that keeps the composition soft.
Limes is shared and worn by anyone. It is a fresh, bright, daytime scent suited to spring and summer, and to someone who likes a classic citrus floral with history behind it and no heaviness. It is offered in 100 ml and 50 ml sizes.
