L'Acquarossa, released by Fendi in 2013 and composed by François Demachy, Benoist Lapouza and Delphine Lebeau, is a fruity floral for women with a dry woody finish. Everyone who describes it calls it floral, about two thirds add woody and citrus, and a third mention sweet or musky sides.
It opens with Calabrian bergamot and Sicilian mandarin, bright and juicy, alongside dried plum, which adds a darker, slightly wine-like sweetness. The heart is a bouquet of rose, magnolia and orange blossom, fresh and creamy at once, with lantana, a less common flower, lending a green, slightly peppery edge. The base is red cedar, patchouli and musk, so the drydown is dry, earthy and clean rather than sugary, which keeps the plum and flowers from feeling heavy.
Half of wearers find the longevity moderate, with a third calling it long lasting, and sillage is mostly moderate. It is voted mainly for daytime and for autumn and spring, making it a polished, grown-up fruity floral for the cooler shoulder seasons.
