Gitano

Gitano, released by the Italian brand Epicò in 2022, is a woody scent first and foremost, with a strong rose-and-jasmine floral layer and smaller touches of spice, resin, amber and leather.

Cardamom gives the opening a cool, aromatic spice, and soon a rich floral heart appears: Bulgarian rose brings a deep, honeyed rosiness and jasmine a warm, slightly fruity sweetness. Underneath, the scent turns darker and more textured. Agarwood, or oud, adds a smoky, resinous woodiness, leather and animal notes a warm, slightly wild and skin-like edge, and labdanum and amber a sticky, golden warmth. Guaiac wood and cypriol bring smoke and earth, while sandalwood and patchouli round off the base with creamy and earthy depth.

The name means gypsy in Italian, and the scent has a restless, untamed feel. It suits autumn and winter, evenings and occasions where a bold, dark rose and oud combination fits. It is meant to be worn by anyone who enjoys leathery woods with a romantic floral heart.
