White Diamonds, released by Elizabeth Taylor in 1991 and composed by Carlos Benaïm, is a big floral in the classic style. Everyone describes it as floral, with spicy, woody, musky, fresh and citrus facets each noticed by a minority.
The opening is aldehydes with bergamot, orange, neroli and lily, a sparkling, slightly soapy start. The heart is a dense bouquet of Egyptian tuberose, Turkish rose, jasmine, narcissus and ylang-ylang, with carnation and cinnamon adding a warm, clove-like spice and Italian orris root a powdery softness. The base is sandalwood, amber, oakmoss, patchouli and musk, a rich, mossy chypre finish.
People report serious performance: about half find it long lasting and a third eternal, and the trail is strong for most and enormous for a quarter. It is voted for winter and autumn and slightly more for night, which places it as a formal evening floral for cold weather.
