Patchouli of the Underworld is a spicy leather from the British house Electimuss, released in 2022 and composed by Kevin Mathys. Everyone who describes it calls it spicy, two thirds add leather, and a third each mention woody, floral, resinous and citrus. It is worn by anyone.
Mandarin orange and pink pepper open it with a short, bright, slightly fizzy burst. Black pepper and carnation then take over, the pepper dry and sharp, the carnation clove-like and warmly spiced. Patchouli sits at the centre, earthy and dark, but the base is what defines it: labdanum and cistus bring a sweet, resinous amber, styrax adds balsamic smoke, and leather and castoreum give an animalic, slightly tarry depth.
