Bourbon vanilla brings the dark, boozy, slightly smoky sweetness; Tahitian vanilla is softer and more floral, with a hint of cherry; and a plain vanilla note fills the middle ground. Benzoin adds a resinous, balsamic warmth that leans towards caramel. Cedar and sandalwood keep it from becoming a pudding, giving a dry, creamy wooden frame, and musk softens the finish so it sits close to the skin.
