Slow Dance is a warm, ambery floral from the Swedish house Byredo, composed by Jérôme Epinette and released in 2019, worn by anyone. Floral and ambery are the two words everyone uses for it, and about half also find it sweet, woody or resinous.
Cognac and opoponax open together, the cognac boozy and faintly fruity, the opoponax a sweet, honeyed resin, so there is no bright citrus start, just an immediate glow. The heart is violet and geranium, the violet powdery and slightly candied, the geranium rosy and green, with labdanum beneath them adding a dark, ambery sweetness. Patchouli, incense and vanilla close it: earthy depth, a soft trail of smoke, and a creamy sweetness that never quite turns into dessert.
Most wearers describe the sillage as moderate and the longevity as moderate to long lasting. It is voted clearly for night and for winter and autumn: a powdery, resinous scent for cold evenings and close company.
