Niche

Niche by Bharara, released in 2021, pairs dark chocolate with forest greenery, which is an unusual combination. Everyone who describes it calls it gourmand, green and ambery at once; about half also say woody, floral or citrus.

The notes come as a single list, but they split into two camps. On the green side are juniper, balsam fir, moss and oakmoss, which together smell like cool, resinous conifer needles and damp forest floor. On the sweet side are dark chocolate and amberwood, bringing a bitter cocoa richness and a warm, slightly synthetic amber glow. Citruses brighten the opening and jasmine adds a faint floral thread between the two halves.

Niche is worn by anyone. Longevity and sillage have not yet been reported by the community. Given the chocolate and amber, it belongs to cooler weather and evenings, and it will appeal to people who like sweet scents but want something stranger and more outdoorsy than caramel and vanilla.
