It opens with cardamom, black tea and fig, warm spice over a dry, milky greenness. The heart is iris and Bourbon vetiver with cistus, so the powdery coolness and smoky earth of the original are joined by a resinous, slightly animalic warmth. The base is where the extrait differs: Madagascar vanilla and tonka bean for a rich sweetness, with sandalwood, cedar and Indonesian patchouli leaf for a dense, creamy, earthy wood.
