Azzaro pour Homme, launched in 1978 and composed by Gerard Anthony and Richard Wirtz, is presented as masculine and is mainly woody, with spicy, green, aromatic, leathery and citrus sides in equal support.

It is a classic aromatic fougère. The top notes are herbal and bright: lavender, basil and clary sage give an aromatic, barbershop freshness, and star anise a sweet, slightly aniseed spice. In the heart, cardamom adds aromatic warmth, with sandalwood and vetiver forming a woody core. The base is warm and mossy: oakmoss gives a damp, green depth, leather a smooth warmth, and tonka bean a soft, hay-like sweetness.

Most wearers report moderate longevity, with a good share finding it long-lasting, and its sillage is mostly moderate. It is voted across autumn and winter, and evenly between day and night. It suits the office, evenings and formal occasions, for someone who likes a classic lavender-and-anise fougère with a mossy, leathery base.
