Copal Azur from Aedes de Venustas, composed by Bertrand Duchaufour in 2014, is an amber incense fragrance with a fresh, salty opening. It combines the warmth of resins with a seaside breeze.
The opening brings salt and ozonic notes for a bright, marine, airy feel, while incense appears from the start as a dry, clean smoke. In the heart, cardamom adds a cool, aromatic spice and patchouli an earthy depth, with incense continuing to build. The base of incense, myrrh, amber and tonka bean is resinous, warm and gently sweet, with myrrh adding a slightly medicinal, balsamic shade.
Many wearers find it long lasting, with others calling it moderate, and the sillage is mostly moderate. It is voted for autumn and spring and somewhat more for daytime. Worn by anyone, it suits cool coastal days, the office and calm evenings, for someone who enjoys incense but prefers it lifted by freshness rather than dark and heavy.
