Richwood from Xerjoff, released in 2010, leads with citrus and then settles into something sweet and woody: most people describe it as citrus, two thirds add gourmand and woody, and a third notice musk, florals or resin.

The opening is bright and juicy, with tangerine, bergamot and grapefruit. The heart turns darker and fruitier through blackcurrant, tart and slightly green, paired with Damask rose for a jammy floral richness. The base is where the name comes in: patchouli and sandalwood give a smooth, polished wood, labdanum adds a resinous amber warmth, and vanilla with musk rounds it into a soft, sweet finish.

It is worn by anyone. Most wearers report it as long lasting, with a minority calling it eternal, and the sillage is moderate for about half and strong for a third. Autumn and winter are the favoured seasons, and it tilts slightly towards night. It makes sense as a cool-weather wood for someone who likes a rose and citrus opening but wants warmth underneath.
