The Hope by Thameen, released in 2015, is a woody, resinous scent that anyone can wear. Everyone describes it as woody, two thirds as spicy and resinous, and a third notice musk or amber.
Myrrh, cinnamon and cloves open it, a warm, dry start in which the resin is slightly bitter and medicinal and the spices add heat and a clove-like sharpness. The heart is agarwood, or oud, cedar and immortelle: dark, dry wood alongside a pencil-shaving cleanness, with immortelle bringing a curious maple-syrup and hay warmth. The base is musk, vetiver, labdanum and black amber, earthy and smoky at first and then increasingly warm, with labdanum giving a sticky, ambery depth.
There are no community reports yet on how long it lasts or how far it carries. Resins, oud and warm spice suit cold weather and the evening, for someone who likes a serious, incense-leaning scent with little sweetness.
