Zazou by the French brand Sabe Masson, released in 2015 and worn by anyone, is a crisp citrus with a green, woody edge. Everyone who describes it says citrus, and about half add woody or floral.
Grapefruit and lemon open it, the grapefruit bitter and sparkling, the lemon sharp and clean. Neroli follows with a fresh, slightly bitter orange-blossom note that gives the citrus a floral softness without making it sweet. Green notes add a sappy, leafy quality, and cypress brings a cool, resinous wood that smells of conifer and keeps the drydown dry and outdoorsy rather than warm. There is no vanilla, musk or amber listed, so the scent stays bright and transparent from start to finish.
Longevity and sillage have not yet been reported, and citrus compositions of this kind are generally light and short-lived. It is a summer and daytime fragrance by nature, suited to hot weather and to anyone who wants clean freshness.
