Sartorial, released by Penhaligon's in 2010 and composed by Bertrand Duchaufour, is a refined fougère inspired by a tailor's workshop and marketed for men. Sweetness, woods and freshness lead equally, with spice, green notes and florals strong.

The opening is cool and unusual: aldehydes and metallic notes give a crisp, steely sparkle, like scissors and pressed cloth, while neroli, ginger, cardamom, black pepper and violet leaf add a fresh, spicy greenness. The heart is waxy and soft, with beeswax bringing a honeyed texture, lavender a clean herbal note, linden blossom a soft floral air and leather a smooth richness. The base is warm and layered, with honey, vanilla and tonka bean for sweetness, oakmoss and patchouli for depth, and myrrh and gurjan balsam for resin.

Most wearers report it as long lasting, with a moderate sillage. It is voted for spring and autumn and is mostly worn by day. It suits the office and formal occasions, and anyone who likes polished, classic gentlemanly scents.
