Almond and almond milk make up the heart of it, the first nutty and faintly marzipan-like, the second softer, creamier and more like a warm milky drink than a confection. There is no fruit, no caramel and no flowers to compete with them, so the almond character is clear from the start. Sandalwood underneath adds a smooth, creamy wood that echoes the milkiness and gives the scent a bit of body, and musk wraps everything in a soft, clean, skin-like finish.

The overall effect is quiet, comforting and close-fitting, less a dramatic statement than a soft haze of almond milk and sandalwood, suited to anyone who finds most gourmands too loud and wants something minimal and gentle.
