Despite the name, Aoud Forest is first and foremost a citrus fragrance, with its woody, spicy, musky, floral and amber sides all sitting well behind the lemon. Pierre Montale composed it for Montale in 2009, and it is worn by anyone.
Grapefruit and Amalfi lemon give it a sharp, sunny brightness, with ginger adding a warm, zesty tingle and rosemary a herbal, slightly medicinal edge. A sea water note keeps it cool and salty. Underneath, the oud is present but restrained, giving a dry woody depth rather than the heavy, animalic character oud often has, while rose softens it and ambergris and musk give a warm, mineral, skin-like finish.
Wearers are split between moderate and long lasting for longevity, and most describe the sillage as moderate. It is voted mainly for summer and spring and for daytime, which makes it a hot-weather citrus with more body than a cologne, for people who want freshness with a bit of woody backbone.
