Eximus

Eximus by the British house Memoize London, released in 2022, is a woody rose built on oud and saffron. Woody and floral impressions are shared by everyone who describes it, and about half also find it spicy or musky.

The structure is a classic one. Rose, including a Turkish rose note, gives a rich, slightly jammy floral sweetness at the centre. Saffron wraps it in a warm, leathery, faintly medicinal spice that darkens the flower. Agarwood brings a deep, resinous wood underneath, and sandalwood softens it with a creamy smoothness. Musk rounds the finish so it sits close to the skin rather than projecting sharply.

Eximus is worn by anyone. Its rose-and-oud character suits autumn and winter and evening wear, and it will appeal to someone who likes the traditional pairing done simply and without a heavy fruit or sugar layer. It is a focused scent with a small number of notes doing a lot of work.
