The opening pairs leather with tomato leaf, a bitter, sappy green that cuts straight through the hide, and a little vanilla to soften the edges. The heart stays green and herbal with galbanum and clary sage, while orris root adds a powdery, suede-like smoothness and labdanum begins the resinous warmth. The base is long and balsamic: vanilla absolute, benzoin, opoponax, tolu balsam and myrrh give a sweet, slightly smoky resin, with sandalwood, musk and more leather underneath.
Most wearers find it long lasting, and sillage splits almost evenly between moderate and strong. It is voted for autumn and winter and equally for day and night, which suits a rich green leather for cold-weather wear at any hour.
