Godspeed

Godspeed, created by Cristiano Canali for the Norwegian house Malbrum Parfums in 2023, is a spicy rose over resin and modern woods. Everyone who describes it finds it spicy, woody, floral and ambery at once, with musk and resin noted by about a third. It is worn by anyone.

Pepper runs through the whole thing: black pepper, pink pepper and timur, a Nepalese pepper with a grapefruit-like tang. Turkish rose and carnation form the floral heart, the carnation adding a clove-like warmth to the rose. Frankincense gives a dry, lemony smoke, and cypriol an earthy, smoky wood. The base is built on contemporary materials: ambroxan and Ambrocenide for a radiant, mineral amber, cashmeran for a warm, musky wood, and cedar with oakmoss to keep it dry.

Longevity and sillage have not yet been reported, though woody-amber bases of this type are generally long-lasting. It suits cooler months and the evening.
