Agarwood is the centre, deep, resinous and slightly animalic, and the composition does not try to hide it behind fruit or flowers. Cypriol adds an earthy, smoky dryness that sits naturally alongside the oud and gives the scent a rooty, almost damp-soil quality. Cedar brings a cleaner, drier wood for structure, and amber softens the base with a warm, faintly sweet glow that keeps the whole from feeling austere.
Staikous is worn by anyone. Its darkness suits autumn and winter and evening wear, and it will appeal to someone who already likes oud and wants it fairly undiluted rather than wrapped in sweetness.
