Ambre Muscadin is a honeyed amber from Laurent Mazzone Parfums, released in 2011 and worn by anyone. People describe it as gourmand and woody in equal measure, and a minority also find it musky, floral, resinous or ambery.
Honey leads from the first moment, soft and golden, with a lighter white-honey accord keeping it from becoming thick or animalic. Violet adds a gentle, powdery floral note that sits naturally beside the honey and gives the heart a faintly cosmetic softness. The base is warm and woody: Virginia cedar brings a dry, pencil-like wood, vetiver a rooty earthiness, and benzoin and amber a resinous, balsamic sweetness. Vanilla rounds it off, and musk keeps the finish close to the skin.
It is a cold-weather, evening fragrance, comforting and sweet without being sugary, and it suits anyone who enjoys honey and amber with a dry woody frame. Those who find many ambers too heavy may appreciate the violet and cedar that keep this one lighter.
